The Yarn Tree: A Fiber Arts Studio + Store

Knitters/Spinners/Crafty Volunteers Needed!

Do something good for Brooklyn and have fun!

Yarn Tree regular needs volunteers to staff demo and craft tables at the Prospect Park Zoo's Fleece Festival April 24-25.

The Fleece Festival is the zoo's 2nd largest event of the year. The sheep and alpaca are getting sheared, and Brooklyn is coming out to watch and learn!

I need volunteers to staff demo and craft tables on Saturday and/or Sunday. The festival runs from 12 noon - 4pm on both days. I need a two-hour commitment for one day (you can do more if you like!) for volunteers. Opportunities include:

Doing knitting demos: just sit and knit, bring some to display. Must be willing to answer questions from public.

Doing spinning demos: sit and spin, bring some work to display. Must be willing to answer questions from public. Wheels welcome!

Help at the craft table: teach kids (and parents) how to do simple finger knitting so that they can create a simple strand to make into a bookmark or necklace.

Providing spinning opportunity for kids: we will have one spindle and fleece on-hand to give kids a chance to try their hand at it.

Doesn't matter if you are a beginner or advanced, the important thing is that you feel comfortable talking to kids of all ages!
