Cochineal Watercolor Paint

$ 14.95

Cochineal Watercolor Paint made the old-fashioned way - by hand.

Available by the half pan and full pan.

The full pan is 1 1/8 x 3/4 x 1/4 (inches). The half pan is 3/4 x 1/2 x 1/4 (inches).

Today the Cochineal insects are raised in Peru, Mexico, and the Canary Islands. Cochineal was used as a dye by both the Mayans and Aztecs as early as the second century BC. Cochineal is a centuries-old color that is still much-loved today.

The watercolor is handmade in small batches in my studio in Roanoke, VA.

 I use only the finest Gum Arabic, Vegan Glycerin, Tupelo Honey, and Clove Essential Oil.

It is repeatedly mulled to have as little grain as possible. The combination of Gum Arabic binder, honey, and glycerin means the paint will flow easily. We add a little Clove Essential Oil as a preservative.

Due to the slow process of making watercolor paints the product will ship approximately 1 week after you place your order!

Please note this product is for use with watercolor papers - it is not for use in painting textile fabric!
