Maya Blue is a centuries-old color dating back to 880 A.D. Used by both the Mayans and the Aztecs to adorn manuscripts, sculptures, and frescos. The color has been found to be very lightfast.

The base for my Mayan Blue watercolor comes from France. It is specially prepared using Persicaria tinctoria (Japanese Indigo) powder and white clay.

The watercolor is handmade in small batches in my studio in Roanoke, VA.

I use only the finest Gum Arabic, Vegan Glycerin, Tupelo Honey, and Clove Essential Oil.

It is repeatedly mulled to have as little grain as possible. The combination of Gum Arabic binder, honey, and glycerin means the paint will flow easily. We add a little Clove Essential Oil as a preservative.

Due to the slow process of making watercolor paints the product will ship approximately 1 week after you place your order!

Please note this product is for use with watercolor papers - it is not for use in painting textile fabric!
