The wild Tussah silkworm begins by first spinning the Peduncle, a stiff stem attached to a tree branch that will support the cocoon. It takes about a day for the worm to complete this task, once done the worm can begin to spin its cocoon. The Peduncle is a natural blackish brown color and is very stiff due to the excess sericin. It is harvested along with the cocoon once the moth has exited. Nothing is wasted! The Peduncle Silk Sliver is easy to spin and produces a lustrous and strong yarn.
