Attapulgite Clay (Palygorskite)

Attapulgite is sourced in Southwestern Georgia and Northern Florida. Attapulgite clay is composed of magnesium-aluminum silicate. It is mined and extracted from naturally occurring deposits in the environment.

Attapulgite can be used to create Maya Blue Powder.

It can also be used to make a resist paste when mixed with gum arabic, water, and magnesium sulfate (Epsom Salts) when dyeing in an alkaline indigo vat.
