Lac Watercolor Paint
Lac Watercolor Paint made the old-fashioned way - by hand.
Lac is pH sensitive and color may vary depending on the pH of your paper!
Lac has medium lightfastness.
You may notice a small odor when wet. This is the natural odor of the Lac resin and will dissipate as it dries.
Available by the half pan and full pan.
The full pan is 1 1/8 x 3/4 x 1/4 (inches). The half pan is 3/4 x 1/2 x 1/4 (inches).
Lac is a scale insect - the female infests the stems and twigs of trees of the Ficus family. The hard resinous coating is produced from the plant sap that has been metabolized by the insects. The dye is extracted from the resinous coating. The resin is known as shellac and lacquer, a protective coating for wood
The watercolor is handmade in small batches in my studio in Roanoke, VA.
I use only the finest Gum Arabic, Vegan Glycerin, Tupelo Honey, and Clove Essential Oil.
It is repeatedly mulled to have as little grain as possible. The combination of Gum Arabic binder, honey, and glycerin means the paint will flow easily. We add a little Clove Essential Oil as a preservative.
Due to the slow process of making watercolor paints the product will ship approximately 1 week after you place your order!
Please note this product is for use with watercolor papers - it is not for use in painting textile fabric!
