Peduncle Silk, Hand-spun Yarn
Peduncle silk yarn comes from the silk "stem" that attaches the wild tussah silk cocoon to a branch. The caterpillar will first spin this "stem" before spinning its cocoon.
The skeins range in weight from 2.125 ounces to 4 ounces and are priced accordingly.
This yarn is handspun and requires a little extra care when handling.
It is a single ply and will give a unique texture to your woven or knitted project.
It could be plyed with a complimentary yarn to make a 2-ply.
It might feel stiff at first but quickly softens with handling.
